From prominent business owner to community leader in the LGBT community,
Don Bruce, a Leather/Levi man, opened the DC Eagle in 1971 as a haven to gay men of the Leather/Levi community, giving them a home, a brotherhood, and an active community to live and socialize in. The Eagle was a place for men from all walks of life including many military, business, and political men that needed anonymity while exploring their repressed desires.
