Announcing QFest 2017 Official Selections
March 27, 2017 (Ocean Grove, NJ) – QFest New Jersey LGBT Film and Digital Media Festival proudly announces the official selections for this year’s 2nd annual event. Selected films highlight LGBT stories and artists from around the world including Britain, Brazil, Israel, Iran, Canada and USA. Several selections will be making their world premiere at QFest, April 7, 8 & 9th. QFest, NJ’s only LGBT film festival, strives to support and promote LGBT film and digital media, the individuals who create it, and the people and stories they highlight. The three-day event is produced by QSpot, one of New Jersey’s largest LGBT community centers.

“We’re honored to announce QFest’s official selections and congratulate the filmmakers on their accomplishments,” said John Mikytuck, QSpot Executive Director, “QFest’s selections represent a diversity of films examining a wide-range of LGBT issues, such as equal rights, love, sensuality, transitioning, institutional discrimination and bigotry,” said Mikytuck.
“QFest recognizes and salutes the contributions LGBT individuals make to the media landscape and creates a venue where people can experience films that might otherwise not be seen,” said Mikytuck. “QSpot is proud to produce QFest as part of our mission to foster the health, well-being and pride of NJ’s LGBT community.”

ABOUT QFEST
QFest New Jersey LGBT Film and Digital Media Festival strives to support and promote LGBT film & digital media, the individuals who create it, and the people and stories they highlight. Entry categories are Feature/Short Film, Feature/Short Documentary, Animated Feature/Short, Music Video, Mobile Device App, Video Game and Website. Festival submissions must have content about or connection to the LGBT community with preference given to unreleased work, work by New Jersey residents, and work that exemplifies artistic expression, education or inclusion. QFest, the only annual LGBT film & digital media festival in NJ, is produced by QSpot, one of New Jersey’s largest LGBT community centers.

Founded in 2005, QSpot LGBT Community Center fosters the health, well-being and pride of NJ’s LGBT community by providing resources, referrals, education, and outreach. QSpot works tirelessly to fulfill its mission while operating a safe and welcoming 2000 sq ft community center in Ocean Grove, NJ.
